i will do a post on my life and where ive been these last 4 months but for now im just going to post about photography.

i have started a new series on my g+ called “life on film,” it will be a while before the first ones are posted, but here is a sneak preview of what it will look like.

so i got asked to take over the spanish 1 class at glencliff high school and taught tuesday-friday, and will be teaching next week as well. i took french but learned enough spanish to teach the lessons. i feel like im picking it up pretty fast. mi gusta comer las papas fritas y beber el jugo. yo soy de nashville y mi gusta montrar bicicleta. Que tiempo hacer? el frios. It’s kind of cool because I am learning spanish to teach spanish, so i am learning a language. The only problem is that I am teaching the lessons the teacher left for the kids but I am getting paid the same as if I was just showing a video. It’s not fair but c’est la vie. So work and more work is all i feel like i have done lately. But fall break is coming up soon so I will get a much needed break.

this weekend was amazing. on saturday october 1st there was so much to do in nashville. in the morning there was the international cultural celebrate nashville festival. ”This event shows the diversity encompassing over 50 cultures that live in Nashville through dance, music, visual arts, a children’s area, a Teens United Area, an educational Global Village, and exotic food samplings.” I also saw a lot of my students there from Glencliff. After that, I went to the schermerhorn symphony center because they were having free shows in the laura turner concert hall all day. I had never been inside. It was beautiful, architecture, layout, everything. I watched the nexus chamber orchestra and they finished with a cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. After that I walked to the arcade and went to the Art Crawl, it was the 2nd annual Sound Crawl. There was a great photography exhibit, and the Society Of Nashville Artistic Photographer’s (which i just recently joined) had a gallery in the Twist. I may try to participate in a gallery in the future. I made my rounds and enjoyed a lot of the galleries. After that I went back to the Schermerhorn and met up with my Dad and his girlfriend Trish. We went in and caught Rumba, the last free show. it’s days like these that make me love living here in nashville. All of these events were part of ARTober, where Metro Nashville is trying to make the city aware of the arts through sponsored international events and gatherings. I’d say they are doing a great job.

in other news, there has been a neighborhood cat that has been coming by my house for the past 6 months or so, and i have named her madge. She seems to come around more when erin is here. they are in lub.

in other other news, the truck that has been in the family since i bought it from steven is going to be sold very soon. it is sad, as everyone in my family except my sister has driven it at one time, but it must go. in honor of the truck, i let erin drive it one last time. I taught her how to drive a stick shift in this truck. when she got in, she drove it fast and furious style, like she had stolen it. vroom vrooms.

i went through and found some old pictures of her. she has grown and matured into an adult over the years.

its been almost 2 weeks since the last post, i am getting behind again on here. c’est la vie.

as i had mentioned in the last post, i wrote new short story a week or so ago. it was my first i have written in years. it is called “subbing” and is a reflection on my time as a substitute. check it out. it has been posted in the words section of this site.

this past tuesday, a friend of mine david poag shot and directed a music video in my house for the country artist corey smith. i shot stills for it. it was fun. it was shot on my porch, livingroom, hallway, my bedroom, kitchen and attic. GAC even came over to film us making it and interview david. it was directed by david poag, dp by andy kugler. when there is a cut of it online, i will post it here. there are too many stills to choose from, i took almost a thousand, and edited it down to 450 or so.

in other news, in my vw golf, i hit 222,222 miles. and to document this momentous occasion i of course photographed it.

in photography news, i have added 2 new series.

in endamori news, we are waiting to find out when we can get in the studio to record our e.p., and in the meantime we starting writing parts for 2 new songs for the LP.

in kafka on the shore news, i have 6 songs written and mostly recorded for the new full-length. slow and steady…

shaving off the minutes of life – “from negatives,” archival film site, “burn” series, leica portraits

i have been working so much lately it’s been difficult to find time to do anything. i have been teaching almost 5 days a week when permissible. it’s been so great and my first check since june came in the mail last week. it’s financial catch up time and im on the right track.

i did manage to write a short story about subbing last week and will be posting that to the words section very soon so keep your eyes peeled.

in photography news, i am proud to introduce my new archive film site, “from negatives.“ i will be uploading pictures i have scanned from negatives dating back to 8 or so years ago. they will be broken up into series’ based on themes. up first is the ”burn” series. this series was shot in north carolina back in the fall of 2006. here a few from the series.

short film “time past” director’s cut world premeire

Well this is the first real post of the new seanconley.tk
I have to say it’s a bit weird writing on here in this new format, but I will get used to it.

This site will be overgoing changes in appearance, updates, and new additions as I customize it more. I added pages at the top, but they are still under construction.
Anyway, let’s get down to business!

the past 2 weeks i have been substitute teaching full-time. It has been great because I hadn’t been able to work aside from the fireworks stand since last june. It feels good to be productive and contribute. I was at glencliff for half of the jobs, one for 3 days in theater. It was great being back in theater because I saw my former students from last semester. One of my students said “Mr. Conley, I see you so much now that I don’t even think of you as a sub anymore.” I thought that was pretty cool. Getting up early took some getting used to but I’ve gotten the hang of it now.

I haven’t had a lot of time in the past 2 weeks to do much but I have managed to do some things.

i spent last weekend color correcting and re-editing a director’s cut of my very first short film ”time past” that i shot back in 2006. it stars taylor rust and is shot in the neighborhood where i grew up and at an old donut shop. so without further adieu, the world premeire director’s cut of “time past”

this will be posted in the videos section. it is part of my old video series that i am starting. I will be re-editing/color correcting my old short films and posting them on here. next will be yolandis, then the cease upon the capitol documentary.

in endamori news, we are having some equipment issues, so we may not be going into the studio as soon as we originally planned.

this will be based more on my weekly happenings, and I will leave the rest for the other websites.

this site will hopefully be updated more often because it is so easy to do posts on here.

not really sure what to say on the first post, other than welcome and start coming here in september!

up next i will start uploading photographs in a film series, from out west in 2004, to black and white over the years and more recently shot on a orange plastic camera in 2009.
